Ladybug's heartbeat

We had our 34 week appointment this week and all looks good. Baby and I are both healthy and growing rapidly. Christian recorded her heartbeat for you to all hear. Our doctor is supposedly known as the "baby whisperer" when it comes to predicting how big they will be at birth, so we asked her if she would give our ladybug a guesstimate and she said she'd rather wait till our next appointment on January 18th. She did however remark..."she's not small"....which is maybe not the most comforting thing to hear when preparing for natural childbirth.

Here I am at 20 weeks...and today at 34. What a difference a few weeks makes?!

Polar Bear Plunge

My brother Luke has a tradition of assigning his family animal counterparts. He and I are camels, my brother Ben is a hippo, my sister-in-law Adele is a duck and Christian is a polar bear. Well, Christian took his animal assignment literally this morning as he participated in the Resolution 5K Run and Polar Bear Dip. The event entailed a run on New Year's Day morning followed by a plunge into the 42 degree Lake Washington water! Must be his impending fatherhood that got into him. I was very proud though.
