Happy Passover!

We celebrated Nina's first Passover last night. She helped me cook while snoozing in the Bjorn. No Matzo for her yet, well except for what she gets via me, but next year we'll watch her choke it down. Happy Passover to all and a special thank you to Aunts Leslie and Mary for the awesome bib!

Six weeks and growing

Nina is approaching 7 wks and is doing fabulously! She is almost 12 lbs, quite a chunker, and has figured out how to Houdini herself out of swaddles, as noted in the above picture. She's sleeping well, starting to sort of smile and continues to amaze us everyday.

Today we remember

One year ago today we lost Christian's Dad Jim. We miss him everyday, but especially this day. In honor of Jim, we took a few photos of Nina with his childhood stuffed squirrel. We are too cynical to be spiritual, however we kind of like to believe it's Jim's way of watching over her. He would have loved his granddaughter and we will remind her of him at every possible chance we have.

RIP Jim, we miss and love you.

4-5 weeks

Sorry for the delay in posts! We've had lots of family and friends visiting from the East Coast, which has been a ton of fun. Nina has now met her Grandpa Richard, her Great Auntie Judi and Uncle Shel, and her Auntie Kristin. Next up in early April are my brothers, Nina's uncles, and we absolutely can't wait!

Here are some recent Nina photos. Major milestones have occurred, she is now 10 1/2 lbs (probably more since that was last week), she's outgrown her newborn sized clothing already, can track our voices with her eyes and does in fact have curly hair when it's wet!

Nina dancing

Just another Saturday afternoon around the Shaw house...we were listening to my little brother's band, The Gaslight Anthem, on You Tube, as they just performed in a Who tribute at Carnegie Hall. Okay, had to get that in as the older sister bragging...anyway, Nina enjoyed listening to her Uncle Ben on drums as well. Maybe we've got a future rock star on our hands!

Three weeks

We can hardly believe three weeks has gone by already! Lots of new things this week to celebrate including Nina's first tummy time, a visit w/ her friend Ruby, hanging out in the sling, and some new fashions I just couldn't resist. Also a very funny pic of Nina sucking on her Dad's nose at feeding time, she was very frustrated there was no milk coming out!

Sleepless in Seattle

I had to share this story because everytime I think about it, I can't stop laughing. Needless to say Christian and I are extremely sleep deprived lately, so last night he took an Advil PM and called it a night and I was in charge of the 3am Nina feeding. So I woke up around 3:30 to Nina's cries, went to the bathroom first and I see Christian get out of bed and walk down the hallway. I'm confused so I finish in the bathroom and follow him out and I say, "honey, what are you doing?" And he proceeds to tell me he's calming the baby....but he was holding the cat! I couldn't stop laughing and told him to go back to bed but he was very confused. We had a really good laugh about it this morning!
